Science For Fun
A group of TY
Students under the supervision of Ms Rafter
present Science experiments to students in the
Primary School, the younger students find this
very interesting and the TY students enjoy
presenting the material and it is very good for
their confidence.

Forensic Science
Workshop
All Transition
Years got the opportunity to learn and discover
some interesting forensic skills when they
attended a special workshop on Sept 13th, they
were given certain facts surrounding the
hypothetical murder of an individual and then
had to piece together all these facts, clues and
scientific evidence to solve the murder.
The students really enjoyed the workshop, their
science teachers had discussed the area with
them prior to the workshop and they found the
presenter very good and educational.

Induction Day
The Transition Year students travelled to
Belfast Activity Centre on August 31st ,
as their Transition Year Induction Day.
They had a very exciting day , with
everyone taking part. They had a great
time and it gave them lots of confidence.

KEY PROGRAM RESIDENTIALS
GROUP 1We
went to Lorne House in Belfast for our Key
Program Residential Sept 21st-23rd, we had key
training which helped us improve our business
skills, the people organising it did it so that
we really enjoyed ourselves while learning.
We enjoyed activities such as team building
games and canoeing. We learned how to build a
fire by making individual fires and then joining
them together. At night we had games in the dark
that helped us all socialise and make new
friends. These activities helped us form a
friendship with the other teenagers from the
other two schools, Moville, Newtonards and St
Columbanus, Bangor. We all look forward to
meeting up again at the next residential.

GROUP 2We
went to Belfast on the Wednesday Sept 23rd for
our 3 day residential, the first thing that
happened was that we were paired up into smaller
groups before having our lovely lunch. The
first activity was key training which involved
getting to know everyone else, then after dinner
we had activities including climbing,
teamwork and manhunt. During our stay we
also got an opportunity for canoeing , key
training, firelighting and climbing. We
had a really good time and met alot of new
people from the other two schools taking part,
Shimna and Colaiste Forste. (James McCooey)
