Accounting
Accounting is a
very popular choice as a Leaving Certificate
Business Subject, it is studied for three years
and transition year students get an opportunity
to experience a computerised accounting package,
this is very beneficial for them in the business
world when they leave school. During the
three years they get a very good grounding in
all book-keeping principles and learn to
prepare accounts for a number of situations
- Manufacturing
Accounts for a factory situation
- Departmental
Accounts for a business with more than
one dept.
- Club Accounts for
the treasurer to prepare for a Club
situation
- Farm Accounts
- Management
Accounting for those involved in planning
for future production and expansion
Financial Manager
at Musgrave's visits fifth year Accounting class
The fifth year
Accounting students had a very interesting
visitor in Ciara Meegan, a past pupil who did
accounting at Our Lady's and is now working as
financial manager in Musgraves in Belfast. Ciara
visited the class in May 2011 and spoke to the
students about the application of the skills
they are learning everyday in accounting
class. This was very interesting and
informative for the students to hear about the
use of accounting in the workplace. Ciara
gave each student a flake bar that was to be
launched the following week to get the students
reaction to the new more improved tasting bar,
naturally the students were delighted to oblige!
