Students must study the following:

  • Maths, English, Irish (3 periods per subject weekly)
  • Religion (2 Periods Weekly)
  • PE (2 Periods Weekly)
  • Sport & Leisure (4periods weekly)
  • Tutor/Social Education (1period weekly)
  • ECDL (4periods weekly)
  • Environmental/Road Safety/Moving Image/Tag Rugby/Money Matters/Retreat

 Leaving Cert Subjects

Students will select four of the following Leaving Cert subjects. Students may change from one subject to another if he/she feels misplaced.( 4 Periods weekly for each subject)

        French, Business, German

       French/Home Economics/Chemistry/History/Construction Studies

       Geography/Accounting/Art/Physics/Biology/Home Economics

       Biology/Economics/Design and Graphics/Music/History     

Students will also study 2 modules from each of the following option lines

Equestrian /Sport & Leisure/Horticulture/Cookery/Maintenance DIY/Flower Arranging

Self Defence/Fashion & Beauty/TY Radio/Yoga/Paired Reading

Keep-Fit/Compass/Video/Creative Crafts/Dance/Sport & Leisure

Students will study 1 of the following modules (Full year)

Dance/Drama/Sport & Leisure/ Mini-Company

Work Experience

Students do 2 different work placements each of one week duration. Students can pick their own placements with prior consultation with the TY coordinator, which can include: hospitals, schools, crèches, accountancy firms, solicitors offices, hairdressers, planning offices, pharmacies, computer firms etc.

Tours

Students go on 3 organised tours every year. Tours may include visits to places like Newgrange, Marble Arch Caves, GAA Museums etc or others.

Workshops

A number of workshops are organised each year for students. These include Forensics, drug awareness workshops, music workshops, film making and dance workshops to name but a few.

Speakers

A number of speakers come to speak to TY students each term e.g. from ISPCC, ISPCA, Simon Community, Mental Health Association and others.
