The Leaving
Certificate Vocational Programme (L.C.V.P) is an
extra subject in the Senior Cycle that students
have the opportunity to take. This programme is
designed to foster in young people a spirit of
enterprise, adaptability and initiative,
developing the communicative, interpersonal,
vocational and technological skills. To achieve
these general aims the new programme:
• Provides an expanded range of curricular
options.
• Offers girls and boys enhanced opportunities
for participation in a vocationally oriented
curriculum.
• Provides certification that is respected for
its quality and standards of educational
achievement.
The most striking feature of the LCVP programmes
is a broader and more interdisciplinary approach
to the vocational dimension.
The LCVP pupil will pursue a programme
comprising
• A continental language
• Three mandatory Link Modules
Enterprising Education
Preparation for Work
Work Experience
• Two Leaving Cert subjects
• Irish
• At least one other approved Leaving Cert
subject.
